B.C. 211 hotline links COVID-19 homebound seniors with community volunteers
Thousands of volunteers offer to help homebound seniors via the B.C 211 hotline
What is the initiative?
While we plead our elders to stay at home, they are worried about their daily chores like grocery and medication pickups. To solve the problem in Vancouver city, bc211 is running a community program that matches seniors in need of non-medical essentials to community members who are willing to help. Seniors in need of grocery shopping, meal delivery, light housekeeping, and virtual visits can also register with BC211.ca. Further, the team is also planning to extend health care, mental health support, counselling, and financial assistance.
